Chances???

4.3 weighted GPA
Lots of AP's (except for English)
ACT composite: 30
Solid, quality EC's: 3 yrs. varsity tennis and basketball, team captain, various other athletic awards; peer tutoring volunteer work, sports camps volunteer work.
Very good essay and good recs.

I know the ACT scores aren't up to par, but I am hoping that a good essay can make up for them. What are my chances at Duke, Washington U. in STL, Northwestern, and Dartmouth?

What about SATs . Be more specific on APs (which ones and scores)

SAT's aren't very good (650 math, 640 writing, 640 verbal).
AP's include: world and US Hist., calculus, micro econ., and biology. I have only taken tests for US and world hist. and received a 3 on both. I have taken other upper level courses, but these are the only AP's my school offers. Let me know. Thanks.

Realistically, it's highly unlikely you'll get into any of those schools. Regardless of how good an essay you write, your SAT and ACT scores are just not good enough. They're below the 25th percentile for all of them. No essay can compensate for that.

your standardized scores are a bit low... you might have a chance at nwu or washu with your ec's

What is your unweighted GPA? That makes a huge difference. I doubt you'll get into any of them, but if your school weights differently than mine (where honors or ap adds 1 point), then maybe you have a chance.

Honestly, they are all reaches. You may get into Northwestern or Wash U, but I hope (and I don't mean this rudely) you have some matches and safeties.

agree with raindrop
