UCONN puts great emphasis on standardized tests. My son didn’t get into the main campus last year with high GPA, AP’s, all honors since 9th grade, varsity sports, multiple music ensembles, editor school newspaper, top 5% graduating class, VP of a club etc…Never took a SAT prep class and should have. Is in engineering program at another school with a 4.0 GPA at midterms. So it all worked out but he really wanted to go to UCONN. The SAT is the only reason we could see that negatively impacted his chances. Best of luck to you.

Thanks
Did he apply as a engineering major to uconn? That’s probably very selective I’ve heard engineering is hard to get into pretty much where ever

Your SAT score from the ACT scale seems average for the school if not a bit higher and same for your GPA. Im applying there aswell, good luck!

Also I have heard that the engineering program is hard

Thanks! Good luck to u too

Yes, he did apply to the engineering school at UCONN.

My son is a current sophomore at UCONN majoring in Mech Engineering. UCONN was his top choice. He had 1980 SAT (720M 660 CR 600W), about a 3.3 gpa, no APs, no sports, but he is an Eagle Scout (and all the ECs and volunteering that go along with Boy Scouts and doing his Eagle project). He did attend a summer program UCONN for high schoolers interested in majoring in engineering. After that program UCONN became his top choice.

Maybe they just admitted him to get the OOS tuition! Who knows! Good luck!
