In-state, 11th grade. I might major in English, psychology, or possibly bio-related. I’m aiming for a major that isn’t as competitive.
1860 on the SAT… (550M, 660R, 650W) Rough test for me. I could probably get 2000 on a good day.
Expecting at least a 29-30 on the ACT.
UC Weighted GPA: ~3.7
- Taking 3 APs: Biology, History, and English Language & Composition. B’s in all of them. I plan to take the AP tests for all, and score at least 3’s.
- A's in electives (guitar and photography), B in precal. Senior year I'll be taking AP Physics/Chem, AP/IB Comp. Sci, and maybe other APs.
- I plan to take a physics class offered at my school over the summer to tack on 1 more A to my UC GPA.
ECs:
- After-school tutoring program 4 hours a week, volunteered at a rehabilitation center for a month. I’ll have about 100 service hours when applications come around.
- General Class (3 classes, this one is in the middle) HAM radio license. (Earned at a young age)
- Homeless aide club at school
- Asian Club and speech and debate freshman year, if that counts
- Started a small business fixing students' phones at my school.
- Play guitar and do photography. (outside of electives)
Essay:
I have a college admissions counselor outside of school who can help me extensively on my essay, so the essay should be very high quality.
Other stuff:
- I have ADHD and social anxiety, and also don’t medicate, which makes school & life slightly more difficult. However, I’ve come drastically far in coming out of my social anxiety.
- My mother has an extremely-challenging-to-deal-with personality disorder, and my father is uninvolved in dealing with this. I plan to talk about this situation in my essay and talk about how it's helped me become a bit more hardened and self-sufficient.
- My high school is highly ranked, and I live in a very scholastic community.
