Report of your SAT I scores to NEU will include SAT IIs...so it doesn't matter if you include on your ap. My son is going to NEU in the fall, he had a 4.04 weighted gpa, 730v, 650m, 650wr and lots of ECs...but it depends on what you want to major in etc....have you considered applying EA? It is not binding...read the stats on this forum. Last year for the class coming in Fall 06 they had something like 6500 EA applicants and about 40% were admitted. Admissions also depend on geographic area, major, etc. etc. so I would say go for it and be sure to write a strong essay on your app. Good luck.

You might want to consider taking the SAT I again since you were only a junior and still have time in the fall. Here is the latest profile from the NEU website:

Following is the academic profile of the fall 2005 entering class (projected data):

Freshmen Enrolled 2,800

High GPA:
— 25% earned a GPA above 4.0
— 50% earned a GPA between 3.40-4.00
— 25% earned a GPA below 3.40

SAT Scores:
— 25% scored above 1310
— 50% scored between 1160-1310
— 25% scored below 1160

ACT Scores:
— 25% scored above 29
— 50% scored between 25-29
— 25% scored below 25

Transfers Enrolled 650

Average GPA 3.55

Unlike California schools, NEU does not show a table of eligibility that cross-references GPA with standardized test scores, but our son was admitted with a GPA in the lower 25% and test scores 70 points above the minimum of the top 25% SATs. He had SAT IIs all over 650 with strong ECs, teacher recommendations and a solid essay.

Your profile looks good, but it wouldn't hurt to strengthen the test results if you can!

Wow, GPA, SAT I & SAT II, Ethnicity, Rank are quite the same as mine (though my test scores are a little bit lower), and I'm also interested in NEU!!! At this point, I think it would be best for you to apply EA (not binding) due to the competitive applications that comes around the regular decision. EA shows interest.

I also know that my SAT is really low, but I took the ACT and got a slightly higher score when converted to an SAT score (around 100 points increase) on my first take. However, I'll be redoing the ACT again in Sept and would be really shooting for a much higher score. Retake the ACT/SAT (which one you prefer) in the fall, but study for it in the summer. It'll really help to be able to bump up our standardized test scores and get a higher chance for admission.

Hey my mom is Filipino!!! I can't really speak Tagalog though =(

I'm going to NEU next year and I'm also from the NY area. Your gpa definitely is Northeatern material. I remember someone who posted on this board who had like a 2.8 and got in, so your 3.5 is one of the stronger parts of your application, but then again, Northeastern is also becoming more competitve each year. You still may get in with that SAT score, but try to take it again this fall to be on the safe side. Your rank is very good.

Good luck!
