Chances?

I am from a top Jesuit college prep high school in Missouri
My GPA is about a 3.9 weighted....top 10%

ACT Plus Writing: 32
----should i take again?

SAT: verbal-650
math-710
writing-700
---retaking

Classes-I have taken the toughest course load my school has to offer except for math.

APs: Chemistry-5, Biology-5. I also plan to take AP government, AP Lit and writing, and AP spanish (4th year)

ECs: I am very involved in community service and social justice, above and beyond required service including service retreats and clubs.

I am in charge of the tuturing program my school offers. And I have been a tutor in spanish, math, english, and science since sophomore year.

I was class President Freshman and Sophomore year, a rep junior year, and probably a rep senior year. Part of the Spirit club and a key member of the Student Government Association the past 3 years.

I played football freshman year, made the A team. I have played lacrosse every year, varsity sophomore-senior year. Both our lacrosse and football teams are strong state competetors each year. We won state in lacrosse my junior year.

I play lacrosse year round but during the summer i work 40 hrs/week for a technology company that designs and builds robotics for pharmacies.

I participated in the annual science knowledge bowl last year, and plan to do so again next year. I did very well.

I have a couple of great teachers who I know will write outstanding recomendations for me

I plan to retake the SAT this october and should do better, probably around 2100.

I plan to apply to the school of engineering

What are my chances?

Get your math scores up if you want to apply to the engineering school. You might still get in with what you have, but higher math scores will definitely go a long way.

I know someone who got into the engineering school ED with a 780 math - but only a critical reading in the mid-500's. I don't think his academic program was as challenging as the one you've taken though, which should give you an advantage.

I also know someone who was REJECTED RD with almost identical SAT scores as the kid above, who played three varsity sports and made state all-star teams in two of them. The major difference between the two, besides the RD pool, was the amount of interest shown. Kid A made two official visits to Lehigh - one for a tour and another for a scheduled interview. Kid B stopped by with his father and never stopped at the admissions office.

Since you are in Missouri, you will be forgiven if you don't make a campus visit, although, if you do, make sure it is official. Sign up in the admissions office. You might want to find other ways to show Lehigh that you're serious about attending if you get in.
