Teacher Recommendation: Absolutely amazing, or so my counselor told me.
Counselor Recommendation: She has told me I'm the hardest working student she has ever come across.

Why does your counselor know what's in your teacher rec letter?

ACT is a little low but otherwise you seem well qualified. Try and convey your passion through your essays and hope for the best.

"Why does your counselor know what's in your teacher rec letter?"

A lot of teachers give counselors recs to mail with their own. There is nothing wrong with this.

yea viva, at my school my teacher's write their letters of recommendation and then submit them to the guidance department so they can be mailed together.

Are you going to submit SAT II's? Although they are not required, Stanford strongly recommends them (which to me means that you should submit them).

Hm, I didn't know that. At my school a rec is considered private between the teacher and the college and the counselor is strongly discouraged from ever seeing it. One of my teachers that wrote my recs actually seals her envelope and signs on top of it so that if it's ever opened (by anyone else than the adcom) it becomes invalidated.

Also, to the OP, congrats on your great stats :) Especially the extracurriculars. It seems like you have passion and it shows.

Forgot to address this particular point- at my school they also mail everything together as well, my teacher's letter is just put in its own sealed envelope (so nobody else can see it) in the big folder with all the other stuff (transcript, counselor form and letter, etc etc). I guess it's just my school's way of doing things and I just assumed it applied to other schools.

"Student of the month" sounds like an award you get in kindergarten.

"Student of the month" sounds like an award you get in kindergarten.

^ LMAO.... hahahahahahahah
I could not stop laugn after i read that

OOO boi that was funna

yeah, i probably would have suggested against adding that award. and the staffer of the month award. :( but err.. in which section did you put the homecoming nominations?

im doing regular decision so i haven't started my application... i'll make note of that. however, student of the month is awarded to one senior student in my high school each month; so it actually does mean something...

Take SAT IIs in December if you haven't yet.

Don't list the "Student of the month" award. It looks pitiful.
I am also not sure about the "homecoming king" thing. This is Stanford. They don't have "I-am-handsome-and-oh-so-popular" section on their application...

I am taking the SATIIs in december. Also, I figured why not add the homecoming portion. It has to mean something to be well respected / well liked by your peers to the point that they would elect you every year to something.
