Colleges:
University of Southern California
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
North Carolina State University
Cornell University
Johns Hopkins University
Carnegie Mellon University
and possibly UCLA

P.S. In 10th grade, I applied to go to North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics from my hometown school Rockingham County High School (small high school that didn't really have any challenges or prepare me for such a challenging school as ncssm) Will colleges take into account the change from one high school to another if they are on different levels of rigor and challenge

Thanks

yes, you will get in everywhere because you are black.

Get higher SATs and I'd say you have a rather good chance at cornell.

University of Southern California: Reach
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill: High Match
North Carolina State University: Match
Cornell University: Reach
Johns Hopkins University: Slight Reach
Carnegie Mellon University: Slight Reach/High Match
UCLA: Moderate Reach

I would look into some more science and math oriented schools too (Stonybrook, etc.)

I have to agree with Luda, sats tooo low but urm status will help. That being said, UCLA isn't into AA, i don't think USC is into it heavy either, so i dunno how much it will help.

Agreed with Karl, AA will help everywhere but UCLA, so you may experience the ostensible impossibility of being accepted at Johns Hopkins and CM but rejected at UCLA.

University of Southern California: good chance
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill: good chance instate
North Carolina State University: In
Cornell University: Rejected
Johns Hopkins University: Rejected
Carnegie Mellon University: Decent chance
UCLA: decent chance

URM only helps so much. Try to get your scores up.

Thank you very much for your imput, I also have another question...what do you mean by urm? I turned off my brain over thanksgiving, so I really don't know what you all are talking about.

I forgot to include 2 other colleges
Davidson and Duke

URM= under-represented minority

African-American and Native-American are two prime examples of URM.

And Latino.

don't forget 1st generation students

bandgeek5:

UCLA: Reach (out of state, Engineering)
