Chances

Can someone please chance me for CAS

I'm a junior

GPA: Frosh - 2.5, Soph - 3.3, Junior (1st quarter) - 3.0
PSAT - 1600 - Something (i forget exactly what it is)
EC: Internation Travel Club, Italian Club, SADD, Chess Club, Lawyers Club, Flag Football
Legacy: 3 Uncles, 1 Cousin
Applying: ED (I want them to realize that NYU is my absolute number one pick for college because I heard alot more people get accepted ED than RD)

Ever since I was a kid I'v wanted to go to NYU and it would really make my dreams come true if I could get accepted there. I know my grades are low but I will try to plead my case when I go on an interview and when I write my essays.

Can anyone help me out here??
If you dont think I would get in what are some tips you could give me or some things I would have to do to be able to give myself a better shot at getting addmited.

PS - I'm gunna try and be a pre-med or pre-dental major

A lower GPA will not eliminate you from getting in, but if that PSAT score is based on three sections rather than two, I think 2000 would be ideal but that maybe a lot to ask considering your PSAT score. You have plenty of time to study for the SATs and can take it multiple times, so concentrate on that. Try to raise your GPA significantly this term and next year as a senior (aim for 3.6). Do you go to a difficult high school or go to a prep school? Because your GPA may then not be as low as it seems in the eyes of admissions...

I go to a private school in NJ with about 180 kids in my class. The grading is on a 9 point scale (A - 91-100). My school does not rank and when I was accepted I competed against about 500 kids for a seat in the class. The name is St. Joeseph HS in metuchen, idk if you know it

those PSAT were based on 3 sections

yeah if you wanna get in with a 3.0 make sure you ace your essays and ace your SAT's....like 1450+ (outa 1600...they don't really care about writing)

Lets try a reality check. At best a 3.0w no sign of an AP class. Avg ECs,and counting on a non-existant interview process. Basically unless his uncles build a new dorm on Washington Square and donate it, your chances, right now, are big reach. I would agree 2100+ would put you closer to match/reach especially if APs are involved.

If you can get at least a 2200, then with your 3.0w you can get the grease to roll the wheels
