I hate to say this but I have a BBA from Devry University. I am going to go to OSU to get a real BS in Economics, settling for nothing less than a 4.0, To strengthen my undergrad creditionals but I will have to take some gen ed courses at a community college. My work experience is weak and my supervisory expereince is non existent.I was wondereing whatare my chances to get into a top tier MBA program in 3-5 years (I am 29) if have:

700 + GMAT
4.0 GPA from OSU
Voluteer expericene
Supervisory experice
excellent essays

What can I do to stregnthen my competitive position into an excellent MBA program?

How long is it going to take you to get that Economics degree? Have you taken the GMAT yet? Seems like you are a real long way away from going to Business school.

I will not have my bs in economics for about 3 years, so I am holding off on taking the GMAT. i want to wait until I get my BS so my test taking and study skills will be at their sharpest.

I am a far way off from getting my mba, due to the fact of being a slacker in my early twenties, I posted this in another thread but:

I will not be ready for a top tier MBA school until my mid to late thirites, would my age hurt me in applying to a top tier school, knowing my potential classmates will mostly be 10 years younger than myself?

No your age is not the thing that could hurt you in the process. Your biggest issue at this point is the lack of work and supervisory experience. Do what you can to beef up your work/sup experience.

Even a part-time job that allows you to move up in a company helps. You could, for example, work in a call center part-time during off-peak hours. Doing that you could impress your boss w/ quality of work and maturity and perhaps move into an off-hours supervisory position. That would be an alternative way to get in work experience w/out having to be full time and a way to move up the ladder a bit too.

thanks for the advice, I do have a ba in business admin, and I am working fulltime at a call center right now,I am socking money away to take some gen ed courses at the local community college and transfer to OSU for my bs in Econ, Basically, I am starting my college career over at the age of 29 !! I am wanting to take a foreign language as well but I am torn in what to study, Chinese interests me but I have heard that it takes avery long time to grasp it and in business I would never be at the level of a native speaker, and I heard that I can learn, Spanish, German, and French in the same amount of time it would take me to pick up Chinese. Some interesting points to ponder,

What are the best foreign languages for a American to learn if his goals is to move into the global market?
