Well, im black....and im a girl. im the co-president of a non profit organization that connects students with jobs/internships in the community, i like to think it's pretty unique. i also moved to the US at 4 from africa and will be applying as a resident. financial aid is not a major issue.

Major: International Relations, Broadcast Journalism, or Law (or combination somehow ie. major in IR and minor in BJ.

so i know my SAT scores stink and im devoting every moment to adjusting that part of my resume. what do you think my chances are? any adivice on how to improve them?

Your grades are good, your ECs are good. You do need to raise the SAT scores at least into the 600s. Carleton will also look closely at your recommendations and essay. They are looking for students who are passionate about learning - make sure that is clear on your application.

Good luck!

I would suggest you look at Carleton's website regarding what they like to see in applicants. My only thoughts are for your list of your senior courses: are you doing any math or science? What about a foreign language? I would also suggest that you think about your essay now and line up some great recommendations from people who know you well. Make sure you show interest to Carleton: Can you visit?

You may want to rethink Carleton if you are pretty interested in broadcast journalism...
