potential major: chemistry, chemical engineering

You are a good applicant for most colleges, even many of the top ones, but to be honest your chances at Harvard are probably slim. Your class rank and test scores are very good, but in the Harvard applicant pool will only be average. You have good extracurricular activities, but once again, this is Harvard. If you like the school then definitely apply because it can't hurt, but I think you would have a strong chance of getting accepted to some of the "lower" ivies and equivalent schools, especially if you apply early to them.

I'd say you have very low chances, to be honest. Your EC's aren't that good and you got a C which is very bad. I wouldn't discourage you but I'd agree w/ the person above and say your chances are very slim.

[/quote]
A "C" is not very bad. It's not the best, but it's not the end of the world either.

however, like some other posters said, your chances at harvard are slim. but then again, so are everyone's chances at harvard. go ahead and apply.

I'd recommend not putting chem engineering as a possible major. Without AP Calc AB and AP Calc BC you'll look very weak. If you're going for chem I hope you got a 5 on the AP exam. If not, I would put "undecided" as a major.

yea i did get a five on the AP chem exam, and i got a 34 on the math, so my math isn't weak. I do regret not being able to take honors math though

you really don't have to declare a major on your application. you can, but we don't oficially declare until sophomore year, so not having upper level math is not gonna be the deal breaker.

this is another reply to the person who submitted "and you got a C which is very bad". My mom's friend has a daughter who goes to Harvard. One of her classmates earned a few C's in high school as final grades, but she still got into Harvard. She told me that if you explain why you got the C's to the admissions staff (for example, if you had family issues or something at the time) they can understand. They do not judge on just one part of your high school grades, but they look at you as a student. Your overall grades prove you are smart. Just be optimistic! You are a well rounded student, with decent grades and test scores... you show leadership, brain, and talent. Confidence is key.
