My school scores on a 4.0 GPA scale, how does yours work?

I have a friend with 3.89 GPA, strong SATs (a bit over 2200, maybe 2300) which is comparable to ACT score when you convert it; had a little less on the subject tests; did less ECs than you (but she had some ones that were long standing; horse rider, instrument player) but similar in content, and she got into Northwestern's school of journalism.

I have a friend with a 4.0 GPA, I think her SAT scores were around 2000, maybe a little less...good SATs, LOTS of band activities, good other ECs, she got into Cornell.

So in short:
Cornell - good chances
NU - good chances
RPI - good chances

Don't know too much about the rest...I am inclined to say good chances at Carnegie Mellon and JHU.

the way it works is that you receive extra points for taking honors/AP classes. For instance, if you get an A in a regular class, you get 4 points, but if you get an A in an honors class, you get 5 points. So my grading is on a 5.333 scale, but since its impossible to take all honors, because you have to take religion, nobody does THAT well

Chances on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

University of Michigan, Ann Arbor... GOOD FIT.
University of Wisconsin, Madison... LIKELY.
Johns Hopkins University... GOOD FIT.
Carnegie Mellon University... GOOD FIT.
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign... LIKELY.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute... LIKELY.
Northwestern University... SEMI-REACH.
Cornell University... SEMI-REACH.

I still can't believe you got away with "cum."
Under GPA.

You should get accepted everywhere for that one.

Except I did too...I'm still surprised.

do you guys think i need to put in some safety schools in there. I was thinking madison was pretty safe for me, but i could always apply to michigan state

Definitely put in safeties.
