Very Good Chance.

wow your school is pretty amazing. rank 70th with a 3.75 thats great. sucks for you tho.

Yeah, you should get in. Make sure you write a good essay too.

I dont speak for the school in any shape or form...particularly the admissions office.

However, you should know that two years ago they had 14,000 applications. Last year they reached 22,000 applications...that is unheard of and really in the stratosphere.....

and they waitlisted a LOT of people this year because of that.

Your GPA and class rank and AP schedule look good. But your SAT may need to be bumped up, as they anticipate even MORE applications for this coming admissions cycle.

I would retake your ACT and SAT. It cant hurt.

Good luck.

Friedokra: do you know how many of those 22K enrolled? (don't look it up; just asking if you know off the proverbial top of your head)

^ how many?

Freshman at Rose Hill is around ~2000/yr I believe.

Don't know Lincoln Center's numbers.

and rose hill accepted how many? i believe 1,800 new coming freshmans are for CBA only..

Here are the stats for the 2006-2007 Admissions Cycle
(Source: Father Joesph McShane at his "State of the University" Address in May)

Applications: 22,000
Applicants admitted: Around 9,100
Acceptance Rate: ~42%
Previous Yield: ~20%
Expected Freshman Class: 1700 - 1750
Proportion of Freshman in CBA: ~40% of Freshman class (around 680 or so).
Average SAT: 1235 to a 1250

I don't have the numbers for Lincoln Center, they were not discussed.

They expect more applications this year than last. As for the number of "seats" it depends on the number of dormrooms. 1600-1700 is what I heard, but I wont refute Fordham217. Average SAT's are rising. To get a scholarship you need a 2100, I am told. To be safe, I would aim for at least a 1300 on math and critical reading score and 1850 total, or higher.

Fordham is an academic school that stresses old fashioned critical analysis, writing and research. Students write a lot of papers I am told.

My D got in as a "match" school based on her scores and gpa. She completed9 AP courses. She chose Fordham because of the strength of the faculty, programs, and other factors.....and the Jesuit ethics and ethos.

I am a firm believer in going to the school that is the best fit for YOU (your kid), which is different for everyone.

Good luck to you.
