I want to major in BIO or in public health.
Thank you!!!
My chances at UCD OR ANY OTHER UC’S…THANKS AGAIN.

Public Heath is MA/Phd only I believe.

Try to break 1700 on the SATs and you should be good to go. 1st gen/economic disadvantage/good essays will make up for your slightly low GPA. If you want to increase your chances of getting into a school, declare a liberal arts major and just switch to bio once you start school. Good Luck!

Under Bio Major:
UCSD: Reach
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Match
Others (Not UCLA/UCB..lol): Safety

You will get in. 1st gen and low income, I know tons of students who had lower SAT and lower GPAs but were in the same situtation as you and they got in.

I would also say you have a decent shot at Berkeley and the higher UCs too. Yes, reaches, but a good shot.

Berkeley with a 1580? are we talking about the old SATS that was out of 1600 or the new ones out of 2400?

UCB/UCLA: Big Reach
UCSD: Reach
UCD/UCSB/UCI: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safety

Low income and first generation will make up for your low SAT scores.

I know people that have gotten into Berkeley with around a 1600.

Getting into Berkeley with a 1600? That's insane!

Have you guys heard of athletes? I hear they can get in with pretty low scores.

I mean a 3.2 student at my high school got into Princeton to play football. And isn't princeton suppose to be the #1 school for undergrad? Surprise surprise.

^ But you have to be the next Reggie Bush. You make it sound like you can be second string on the local volleyball team and get into Princeton just because you played a sport. You have to be beyond exceptional.

How is getting in with a 1600 insane? The person had great grades and was a low-income, first gen minority student. Berkeley is not going stop looking at an applicant because their SAT score isn't above 1800 or something.

I mean, it's not like Berkeley is a match for her, but it's not impossible. If she wants to go, then she should apply, because she does have some chance.

i kno a kid who got into every UC with a 1800/2400 on SAT
and also a kid who got into davis with a 1500
Its not all about SAT scores...
essays are a big part
but I would suggest everyone to apply to as many colleges as possible, even if you think you dont have a chance... cause you willl be surprised

Thanks For All The Input!!!
