Okay here goes:

I applied ED.

I have a solid B average and I am taking AP French, Honors English, Advanced Chem., Human Rights and Calc. My school is really competitive. It is a boarding school. I got a 25 on the ACT. I have a connection to the admission office, my great-parents, grandmother and mother all graduated from columbia. I also went to the Pre-college program for two years.

What are my chances???

Oh and I also do lots of extra stuff. I play on varsity field hockey, am layout editor of my school newspaper, the leader of the young women's studies group, student tutor and i do fund raising.

your grades and ACT are not as strong as they should be for barnard, but your connections and dedication to the school should help you. good luck!

i did pcp this summer too!!!

but do you think i will get in? what does everyone else think?

I think you're overestimating the power of connections/legacies. It's a reach, i think, based on your average and ACTs.

Jem, I think that Barnard is an incredibly competitive school and there are no "for sure" admits. That being said, I have to think that your grades might serve as a deterrant to your being admitted...on the other hand, Barnard does look at the entire alpplicant, not just select numbers, and you sound like you have some good things going for you. Just have additional schools in mind to apply to in case things don't work out at Barnard in the ED round, and you will know about Barnard very soon. Hang in there!

Thanks everyone! I think that it is so up in the air. I know that it is a reach but I am hoping for the best and perparing for the worst. I suppose that only time will tell. Ugh im so nervous.

We are all right there with you hoping for the best!!!

awww thanks so much. It means a lot!
