I am a student from the midwest who is seeking admissions into a boarding school. I wanted to know what posters here though of my chances of being admitted into any of the boarding schools i am applying to. I am applying to Andover, Exeter, Western Reserve Academy, and possibly Lawrenceville. My first choice would have to be Exeter. I spent last summer there attending their summer school and fell in love with every aspect of the school and i decided i really wanted to attend the school for the regular school year. here are my stats.

The only real flaw i think i have is my ssat scores, 65 percentile.
I have found the ssat to be harder for me than the sat and act, which i have taken and not done bad at all.
It is kinda frustrating because i dont want one score to be the reason why i cant attend the school of my dreams. I contacted the admissions office at Exeter and they said they look at the whole package.
I figure i will retake the February ssat because Andover will accept it.
So, what do you think of my chances with Exeter.

What is your passion? All of the schools are looking for students who have a passion for something that they can contribute to the school community. Your passion needs to come through loud and clear in your essays and interview.

Students with high SSAT scores, good grades, and lots of extracurriculars are a dime a dozen. What do you plan to bring to Exeter that will make them want you?

Hey Barca. Your stats look really good to me, except for the ssats. It's not usually taken into consideration much if its somewhat high like 80+(at least thats what I think) but 65 is a little low. Any way exeter can see your feb test too? Also you international and do you need FA?

Mercersburg does not have a uniform like Western Reserve and Hill, and in comparison the campus at M'burg is more open and spacious, while at the same time being a bit more remote than WRA or Hill School. Even so, Mercersburg is only 90 minutes from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, both of which are frequent destinations for school trips.

If you are interested in Mercersburg Academy, I'm an alumnus (Class of '06), and I would be more than willing to provide information and opinions for interested people. Feel free to PM me with questions.

ssat isnt a top priority in most schools, especially if your grades and sat/act scores are good, if you have time then sure you can take it again to build up on your application, but i dont think it will be tooooo much of a problem. did the schools mention how important ssat scores were to them. some schools indicated to me that they would not be too important in the overall assessment of my application.
