Great essays, stellar recommendations

It seems you definitely have some stong elements in your profile. And as you're probably aware, some things that don't fit nicely in UDel's. One good thing for sure, you've only a long month and a half or so to know. Good luck.

Well, As a parent of a UDEL sophomore who busted her butt in High School, I find your rank extremely troubling. What the heck were you doing? Also, your GPA shows that you were not really exerting yourself. By contrast, your SAT scores were outstanding. What does that show an admissions rep? You are unmotivated and hope to gain admissions by either your "American born in Israel" status, or your outstanding scores? I don't know--but I find it a troubling trend that students who don't apply themselves in high school expect to be accepted to colleges based on test scores or other bases. But color me conservative!!

Dear mchgh: aren't you being rough on a kid who wants to go to a great school but also took the time to be a kid?
He may or not be admitted in Delaware, but this kis seems healthy to me. Your daughter may have killed her butt of, but I thing she may have undergone a tremendous amount of pressure from your part, and a 27 in her ACT is not impressive. Do not accuse collegplease116 in such a hard manner -I guess is the teacher in you- and put yourself in his shoes. Do you think going back in time that yourself would have gotten in half of the scools these kids are trying? Most of us we are doing our best, and in some schools it does not seem to be good enoug. Look at UF for example, or Bing, where the deferred and rejection list has skyrocketed.
At 17, were you this qualified? I don't think so.
Good luck Collegplease116

In-state possibly admit, but your GPA is going to be an issue that the admissions office looks at pretty closely. Out of State is going to be really tough.

Although I am a little confused by your class rank. Is an 85 really in the bottom half of the class these days? That's some pretty serious grade inflation.

You know, it's just possible that collegeplease116 is a terrific individual who simply needs a little guidance in positive presentation.

Amen. I'm counting on his/her being a fine young person who merits candor, openness and honest reflection. Conversely, patronization is for little leaguers, all of whom are given trophies for fear of injuring their little egoes. The better time for cheerleading, at least as it pertains to college entrance scenarios was 3 or 4 years past. Now it's time to see who wins where. In this case, at least in looking at the reality of the UDel profile, that's been the case.

And imo, admission or otherwise to UDel says nothing about the quality or lack there of in one's character. There are magnificent young folks going to plenty of community colleges.

my gpa in 9th was 85, 10th 86, 11th 90, and 12th 94
i've taken only two APs
my SAT scores are similar- 690 cr, 660 math, 750 writing

I got into Delaware honors with a 4000/yr merit scholarship...DON'T WORRY!
I think you've got a good shot. And you'll probably find out today or soon :)
Good luck!!
