chances

I really like Brown, and I know no one can really predict what will happen, but I’m wondering if I should even apply to Brown, because I know the odds are against me.

SAT:
Math:630
Writing:670 (essay 10/12)
Reading:550

ACT: 28 composite
(did not do well in reading, but did very well in science)

GPA: 3.8 (4.0 scale)

LOTS of community service (@ least 200hrs)
internship program at local hospital involving a research project
lots of extracurriculars
not too much leadership
10 APs total by end of senior year (I only know that I passed 1 thus far)

I want to be a bio major, specifically genetics.

Your scores are well below the median for incoming freshman in previous years. Take that into careful consideration when you craft your application.

Here is a question you MUST answer and convey in your application: What makes me so special that Brown would want me despite my mediocre test scores?

I also suggest submitting only your ACT, unless you have wonderful Subject Test scores.

Finally I realize that, overall, you're far above average. But getting admitted to Brown is tough. Best of luck!
