Alright my GPA is a 3.2, and I have a 1630 on the SAT's. I also applied for summer.

in-state or out of state? because if your in state i think you have a decent shot, i mean the GPA is low because there average is 3.5-3.9, but your SATs are prettyy good. i think you have a good shot

Here are the middle 50%:
3.57-3.97 for GPA and 1740-1980 for SAT. It comes right from the undergraduate admissions website.

did they say anything about the ACT score?

^26-30

10 char

ok well i have a friend who went to the summer session and she told me she personally knows 3 kids who didnt break 1000 on their SAT's and got in....

in-state or out of state is irrelevant. psu is happy to have the oos tuition dollars.

oh really is that why psu has about 70% in state students and 30% out of state

I'm not sure of your point. There are more students from Pennsylvania because the majority of the applicants are from Pennsylvania. PSU actually has a higher percentage of OSS than most state schools-- Rutgers is 90% in-state, U of Texas- Austin 98% in-state, UCLA 94%, U of Florida 95%, Ohio State 85%.

wait, i realize people stopped posting on this a while ago but i have a 3.4 and a 1700 on the SAT's and also applied early for summer only. i didnt even put down the fall session. do i have a shot? oh and i'm also in state and went undecided for my major

yep i would say so, especially since you put down summer.

yeah but i'm like the perfect candidate for a branch campus pretty much. i just don't know what they take for summer..don't think anyone does. it's so frustrating

^I guess if you're in the top 1-2 yellow dots in the column, you should be okay.

well i just found out my GPA is actually a 3.5 and not a 3.4 so thats better haha but still not great. where is this chart?

Admissions Chart

My son has a 3.0 and 1830 SATs (with 680 math level 2 sat). He attends one of NYC's specialized science high schools that is very competetive to get into and very competetive to be in (don't know if Penn St's admissions considers this aspect). He had a so-so 9th grade, bum 10th grade, greatly improved 11th grade and currently maintaining the improvements in 12th grade with 2 APs (calc and java).

He also checked summer because I didn't think he'd get into fall. Does he have a chance for summer (I'm assuming no chance for fall)? Does Penn State consider improvement and/or difficulty of the school itself, or do they just look at straight stats?

He's OOS and is interested in being possibly a math major (maybe computer or economics, not 100% sure). Penn State is at the top of his list.

i think he could have a slim shot at summer. his GPA brings him down but he has pretty good SAT's. he definitely has a shot i'd say but it's not for sure.thanks for the chart karp! i clicked on it but it said that the page couldn't be found?but quick question. i just got my SAT scores back and combined they're only a 1760. and i have a 3.52. is that good enough for summer?

Sorry....try this....I had copy/pasted from another post
