Chances?

Hey, I'm a junior right now. I recently decided that I was willing to look at out of state colleges, although I've pretty much been dead-set on a nearby college since my freshman year. Now that I'm actually looking at colleges outside of Florida, I'm starting to find that I really like Smith alot. Problem is, the college I've liked up until now had lower standards for admission than Smith. I knew I could get into that college no problem so I've taken rigorous courses, but I haven't cared about my grades as much (not that they are bad, just if I had cared they would be a 4.0). Well, here are my stats, can someone please let me know if they are still good enough to have a chance here?

GPA: 3.85 UW
Rank: 4/441 (soon to be number 2)
APs: Human Geography- 2, World History- 3; Psych, Bio, English Lang, US History, and Stats I am taking currently and I expect to get 3s or higher on them all; I plan to take: Macro, Micro, US Government, English Lit, Calculus and Physics next year
I haven't taken the SAT or ACT yet but I expect to get at least a 2000 on the SAT and 30 on the ACT.

ECs:
- over 500 volunteer hours helping at a local zoo
- volunteering at a local organization that helps families with little income get things like health care and food stamps
- Math League
- Science Bowl
- tutoring in math 4 hrs/week

My ECs don't seem like much but that's because I devote much of my time to volunteering at the zoo and I often am stuck at home due to transportation issues (but instead of doing nothing when I can't get out, I take online classes through FLVS so that I can have more time to learn things I want to).

Well, I think your stats seem pretty solid regardless. Not a total shoo-in maybe, but also not a total reach. My one piece of advice would be to try to run for a leadership position in one of your EC's if you don't already have one/if you have time.

don't worry about not having that many EC's if you have one thing that you're really passionate about like volunteering at the zoo. It's honestly quality over quantity, and any college (not just Smith) will appreciate your passion if you let that shine through on your app.
