I don't know much about U Chicago, but I'm starting to consider it as a possible choice.

I'm going to be a little hasty here -- I am sure that I will forget something, but this is just a rough idea anyway. Am I on the right track?

“Massachusetts Republican Party???” That actually exists? Woah, that’s news to me. Haha sorry for giving you a hard time but my heart did in fact skip a beat when I read that. Chance-wise, your stats are good enough for you to not really worry about them if that makes sense. What I mean is, your stats won’t keep you out of UChicago but they don’t put you in either. If, through additional research and discovery of your academic interests, you decide that applying to UChicago is a good idea, just work on your essays and hope for the best. So to answer your question, yes, I think you’re on the right track, but just know that these chance threads are hardly reliable.

Chicago has been known to look pass grades and test scores. Your scores are perfectly fine. I got the same score as you did, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Spend a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot (x100000) of time and thoughts on your extended essays. Chicago has a lot of writing for a reason! (It is also important to note that Chicago ignores SAT writing score.)

As far as numbers, I was very very similar to you and I got waitlisted. I suggest what the others have, work a crapload on the essays. I didn’t really do that. But it’s not like I didn’t try - just not hard enough.

You do go to a very competitive high school whereas I hail from a tiny public school in the middle of nowhere. I think this matters a lot. So I’d say you have a good shot.

I did my essays 2 hours before the app was due and got accepted. What I suggest is approaching the essays in a diverse manner that demonstrates your cognitive process as “complex.”
