Chances?

<p>I'm a female high school junior at a pretty small public school in Connecticut...haven't taken AP exams so far, but here's whats on my resume...also my SAT's are estimates of what i think i'll get, I haven't taken them yet because I'm only a junior...</p>

<p>GPA: 3.7 unweighted
SAT: CR-740, M-650, W-780</p>

<p>AP's: 4 to 5, not many offered at my school</p>

<p>Class Rank: 7 out of 160</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
1. Cross Country-9, 10, 11, 12...Captain (11/12); some awards
2. Indoor Track-9, 10, 11, 12...Captain (11/12)
3. Outdoor Track-9, 10, 11, 12...Captain (11/12); some awards
4. Spanish National Honor Society-10, 11, 12; Secretary (11/12)
5. School's Newspaper-9, 10, 11, 12; Copy Editor (10), Editor-in-Chief (11/12)
6. High School Bowl (it's this trivia competition thing)-11, 12
7. Captain's Council (meetings with all the sports team captains): 11, 12
...Hopefully NHS, inductions in the spring</p>

<p>Community Service: Around 50-60 hours at library
Part Time Job: Pre-junior year summer definitely up through time of application</p>

<p>Summer Programs: LeadAmerica Media & Journalism @ Columbia University (prior to sophomore year)
-Hopefully interning at local newspaper this summer
-Possibility of journalism conference at Yale Daily News this coming summer</p>

<p>-Can get good recommendations/write good essay </p>

<p>Would apply to Medill, definitely want to major in journalism</p>

<p>AND study for that SAT (SAT II in Lit would be good too) ~>2250 and you should have a very good shot</p>

<p>It’s hard to say.
Your GPA is okay; not more, not less. Are you taking the hardest curriculum offered at your school?
I’m not a big believer in guessing what you’re going to get on SATs. It’s meaningless. However, if you got those scores, the CR would be “in there” and the Math a little low. Most schools discount writing; not sure where Medill stands on this.
I love the commitment to, and leadership in, varsity sports and the newspaper.
You are a solid candidate.
