Bike Club member, 4 years on the newspaper (1 year Arts editor, 1 year Opinions editor, 1 year Online editor), Founder and president of the Student Union, I tutor in math, I am a part of the freshmen orientation committee, have a summer job cleaning my apartment's patio and the next door building's

Thank you!

I wrote my personal statements on how being poor has affected my career choice (politics) and on my campaign for ASB president which later resulted in losing and founding the student union. The UCLA admissions lady who read them said they were fantastic, especially the second one more than the first.

bump please, I will chance back

I’m sorry but im not familiar with uc’s, but I do know you have a good shot at getting in a few judging by your stats.

Stanford will be a reach, its tough

Yeah Stanford would be a bit hard because I don’t have spectacular stats. I think my conditions/ECs/essays will give me the biggest support there.

Stanford - reach
Rest - match or in

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/829019-list-safe-enough-will-chance-back.html

Match or In for USC/UCLA? Really? I thought it would be a bit harder, but still likely, than that.

Also, my fall back is santa monica community college if I don’t get into UCLA/USC. I don’t plan on leaving LA.

USC - Match/Low Reach
UCLA - Match/Low Reach
Stanford - Reach

You have very good test scores if you have over 2000 SAT. Problem looks like your grades, you have a lot of B’s which might make you look a bit unattractive to some of these colleges everything else is probably safety.

Could you explain what match/low reach means? Thanks, I’m new here.

I know my grades suck, I’ve just never been a fan of doing my work which left me with B+s abound. Ah well, I make up for it.

thanks for the chance~ and the problem is, I am not a social science major XD. although I am close.
Not too familiar with UCs, but I’m thinking that USC/USCLA would be high match for you. Stanford would be a reach, as is for most applicants (your SATs are low, but your URM status might counteract that a little).
Best of luck!

Match - You’re probably in
Low Reach - You’ve got a good shot but theres a few things setting you back

schools can be categorized as being matches, reaches, or safeties. safeties are the schools that you know you will def def get into & they are your fall backs. matches are schools that match your stats & resume & you have a very fair chance of getting in. reaches are schools you have to essentially “reach” for, ie stanford, yale, harvard & princeton are reaches.

match/low reach means its between being a match & reach…could be a match for you but also could be a littttle bit of a reach.

stanford is a reach, but it is for everyone.
everything else is a match, i would say; based on your stats & if your assumption about your SAT is correct, you have a very good chance of getting into all of the others.

ah gotcha, thanks for the info.

Stanford’s the only reach. Rest are pretty much alright.

This is great, I knew that I had a good chance for UCLA, but not this good. Now I know for sure I can do 4-year straight, attend a good college, and stay in LA.

Congratulations hehe, hard work pays off ^^

I agree with what everyone else said. Stanford is a reach and the others are Matchs/Low Reaches, but you have a good chance of getting into a few UCs.

Well actually UCLA and USC are my only choices, if I don’t get in I’m going to Santa Monica College (community) and transferring since it is the #1 transfer college to UCLA and USC in California.

You are pretty much in at the UC’s
USC might be a little hard
Stanford is unfortunately out of the picture until you increase your test scores.

Sorry for the late addition guys, but could you chance me for NYU?

UCB- you’ve got a shot if you get your SAT scores at 2100.
UCLA- Same goes for this.
UCD- your in!
