Not very many APs being offered, but I am taking 1 this year (English). I will take more next year. I am also taking one dual credit class (Accepted - most in state schools.) Other classes are honors unless they are not offered as honors, dual, or AP.

Chances for UT Austin, USC, UCSD, Military Academies, Stanford, John's Hopkins

I would definitely add some safeties to that list.

Stanford, JHU, UCSD- Reaches
UT Austin, USC- Slight Reach/ Match
How about Baylor or A&M?

Baylor and A&M maybe

.....bump.....

I was also in a Summer Program called The Prefreshman Engineering Program or PREP. It is known in other places as Proyecto Access etc. I am a 3 year grad from this program.

I don't know anything about UT Austin or the Military Academies, but I do know that JHU, Stanford, USC and UCSD are huge reaches. I hate telling people that, because it's like crushing their spirit and I look all hoity-toity. But your SATs should cross 2200 if you're looking at Stanford. You're stretching it if GPA is lower than 3.8 for USC and UCSD, the latter especially since you're out of state. JHU is a maybe, but they put an awful lot of stress on those numbers.

It's great that you go to a good school and take honors courses, but you certainly ought to hit 2000 at least for the SAT. I'm horrible at recommending safeties, so I'll leave that to somebody else, but please keep an open mind.

PnoyBoy07:

UCSD: Reach (Engineering, out of state)

.....Bump.....

UT Austin, USC, UCSD, Military Academies, Stanford, John's Hopkins

JHU, Stanford, USC = no way
UCSD, UT Austin = big reaches
Military Academies = who knows

I wouldn't just add safeties, I'd add some actual matches and reasonable reaches too.

I think if he could raise his SAT...the military academies would really want him. He's got great community service/leadership things! His academics, are laking, quite a bit though.

.....Bump.....

.....double bump.....

.....triple bump.....

UT Austin- Accepted
USC- (Accepted)
UCSD- Accepted
Military Academies- Depends which one, but definitly apply
Stanford- Waitlisted (SAT's)
John's Hopkins- Waitlisted (SAT's/Lack of APs)

.....bump.....

.....bump.....

you really really really need to work on those standardized tests. right now, your chances at stanford and jhu are pretty low, and usc isnt looking too good either. im afraid they probably wont even waitlist you. sorry.

I agree. A 1620 won't get you into USC or waitlisted at JHU and Stanford.

Then again, you haven't taken the actual exam yet, so just make sure you do well on that. And by the way, if that practice test score isn't from the blue book, I wouldn't consider it legit.
