Keeping it simple. What are my chances for graduate school admission? Looking to go to a political science PhD program.

Political Science BA; Sociology BA; Conflict Resolution Minor
UCI

GPA: 3.1 (4.0 in the last 72 units has brought it up from the mid-2.0s)
GRE: Not yet.
Other: 1 paper co-authored with a good professor.
1 year as a research assistant.

honestly, afaik, polysci PhD programs weight GPAs heavily. You’ll need some killer letters of reference and a great GRE score, and some internships if you want any funding.

Look for a Master’s program instead.

zot.

Thanks for your response. Do you know of any good masters programs for political science?

I hate to say this but most Phd programs require a 3.5 minimum so unless you ace your GRE’s or choose a mediocre school, your chances don’t look so good. Are you sold on doing research? Maybe a mpa or mpp would be more suitable. Otherwise, I would apply to a masters in political science which is hard to find but does exist.
