Civil Engineering chances for Cal Poly SLO, UC San Diego, and UC Berkeley?

I have an ACT composite of 30 made up of: 33 math, 31 reading, 31 science, and 25 english, but i also have another ACT with 29 english that I also sent in but with a lower math.

GPA of 4.25 using the CSUmentor.com site.

Internship with SoCal Edison, sports for 3 years and some community service too.

I would think your chances are good for CPSLO. UCB is really tough and there are so many factors in the UC schools. Essays, leadership, GPA class difficulty and test scores. The UCs seem to like the SAT scores. Not sure about UCSD. Do they have a good Civil Engineering depart.?

You look like a good candidate for all of them, but you just never know.

One thing…Cal Poly is an awesome school for engineers and my son is having a great time too! The best of both worlds!
Good luck to you!

if you going for civil, then definitely attend cal poly. And with those stats, you would for sure get in. Cal Poly>Berkley>UCSD

If you are not planning to emphasize on Structurals then UCSD may not be the right place for you. UCSD does not have a Civil Engineering program in the Jacobs School of Engineering. They have Structural Engineering instead.

Berkeley’s Civil Engineering program is really highly ranked, too, but it is geared towards people who want to pursue research or a higher degree after graduation.

If you want to work right after graduation and go back to school later on, Cal Poly will be the better choice.
