hey you all.
first off i wanna thank everyone for doing this for me, it means a lot.

i've gotten all A
s +A+
s, no A-`s all of middle school except for art class in 6th grade where the teacher hated me! haha.

my recs should be pretty amazing because i had my chinese dance teacher who's known me for 3/4 of my life do it, and my russian piano teacher who i completely adooore.

EC's

alright i think that's it. if anyone needs anymore info, let me know. ahaha well thanks again everyone, i really appreciate it. :)

Coming from someone who plays piano herself,I think you have good chances. I live in Texas, and I made the TMTA Music Teacher's Association State competition as well :) However, TMTA only lets you compete starting from 7th grade. Is MA Music teachers assocation the same too?

You sound like a pretty good candidate to me, though I have little experience in this. However, as I'm sure you'll hear from others below me and probably already know, Andover is an extremely selective insitution.

You seem like you have a pretty good chance.

You have a good chance as a day student. Your Verbal is considerably lower than the others, but I'm sure that's fine as the words can change in difficulty.

Good luck! :)

just quick question - how did your interview go?

umm for the the massachusetts music teachers association piano competition, i think the divisions start around age 6ish
the website is here for the past winners/
http://www.mmta.net/baystatecontest.php

hmm, my interview went wonderfully..my interviewer told me that i am the type of person that would fit in very well at andover, and i'm the person they're looking for. she told my parents to not worry about it at all, and that i am sure to do well. :] i guess that's good.

yeah my verbal score is =/ but although language arts is my strength, was really nervous during the verbal section of the ssat.

oh and i forgot to mention that i am fluent in chinese, studied spanish for 5 years, and learned latin all 3 years of middle school. i intend to study chinese at andover.

Wow, Jenny! Very impressive!

Jenny, if you're fluent in Chinese, then why would you want to re-take it? That will not look good to admissions officers, as they think you are only taking the course because you will ace it.

while i may be fluent, i realized that there is much of chinese history, and background besides what i am familiar with.
for the course descriptions;

chinese 500/1
chinese 500/2
chinese 500/3
stories in modern chinese
extensive chinese folk stories are used as baisc texts. the course focues upon the study of rhetorical devices and idiomatic usage. the course develops high proficiency in speaking&reading.

chinese 520
communication in modern china
chinese news broadcasts, films, and segments of chinese TV programs are studied. emphasis is placed on students' listening comprehension of and written reflections upon chiense in real-life communication. topics in current events are discussed exclusively in chinese.

for me, i cannot really comprehend many real-life topics that are being discussed in china, and i believe taking chinese will also improve my knowledge of what's going around the world, especially on TV and news broadcasts and how i can understand it.

well, if you're fluent in chinese, how can you not know what you're listening on TV? or do you mean you don't get the background of the current events in China?

btw, nice to know there a chinese speaking person around here...i speak both Mandarin and Cantonese

i speak mandarin too! :)

x33 jenny,

Not to alarm you, but I have asked the moderators to remove your name from the posts. As much as we would like this to be a friendly place, unfortunately unregistered people of potentially questionable character sometimes look at places like this.

Generally, it is not a good idea to publically identify yourself on forums like this.

BTW, you sound like a great candidate. I wish you luck.

You mean because she said she was a day student? Huh? But she didn't post personal info or anything.
