Chancesss?

Hi! This is actually my first post on CC.. :]

I'm planning on applying to Yale SCEA and just want to know where I stand.

I go to an okay school in NJ, but the last time anyone got into Yale was like ten years ago.

GPA: 4.2 (out of 4.3) UW
Rank: 4/370ish
SAT I: 800 CR / 780 M / 690 W
SAT II: 730 USH, taking Spanish & Math IIC next week

I'm probably taking the SAT again in October to see if I can pull up my Writing, too.

ECs: Editor of School Newspaper, Editor of Lit Mag, PR Head for Save Darfur, probable Co Capt for Acadamic Team, Concert Band for two years, Chorus, etc.

Awards: NHS, SHS, prob NM commended, Tri M Music Honor Society, published in a Creative Communications anthology

Summer stuff: Dickinson Young Writers Workshop, 75 hrs. volunteering at a local library, internship this summer at the state senators office.

And I know this prob. won't matter but I've had cousins who went to Yale.

Any feedback/advice is appreciated!

/Edit

Our school's not so great wiht APs. They split APUSH into two parts, so I had APUSH I soph year, and APUSH II this year. Senior year I have AP Lang, AP Calc, AP Spanish, AP Stats, and AP Macro on the schedule. (I plan to major in PoliSci.)

bumppppp ?

sorry i don't think you've got a chance nothing stands out

The previous poster doesn't know what she's talking about. You have a decent chance, which considering we're talking about Yale probably means rejection, but you certainly have a reasonable shot at being admitted.

I would have to agree with svalbard. You've definitely got a chance. Obviously if your writing were above 700, that would be a little better, but 690 isn't going to hurt much. Plus, you have 780 and 800 as your other 2 scores, which more than make up for it. If you make the admissions committee see who you are with your essays and your recs then you've got as good a chance as anyone. Good luck!

Let's hope so! Thanks!

Just random, but you might want to omit the Creative Communications bit...unless you won something? They take some 45% of writing in anthologies (I found out the hard way: I had one of my favorite poems published there, which rendered it ineligible for submission into another contest I wished to enter).

Update: I got a 730 on Math IIC and 670 on Spanish in addition to the 730 on US Hist. Kind of disappointed but I don't know how much better I'd do if I retake. Do my SAT II scores really hurt my chances? I know I'll be up against people with 800s... :/
