GWU - early decision
american, fordham, northeastern - rolling admissions

You should be good with those stats since your rank and gpa are especially high, American and Northeastern should be auto acceptance, as i know others with much worse credentials who got into those schools, im not sure about the others though. sorry i couldn't be more helpful

Hey! According to your stats, I think you should be fine at all of these schools. I think going ED might be a good idea for GW because of your SAT. Are you planning to retake the SAT or are you finished?

more than likely i am finished...i took the sat's 3 times and improved each time i took them...however, while on the 3rd time i improved all of my scores...it wasnt by much so i do not feel i can do any better

Whoa, there. All of those schools are great on your list. I think you have a shot at any of them. But non of the are safeties, and you need to have one at very least. You can apply EA to Fordham as a litmus test, but I suggest a goo d likely school that you know will take you to complement the list.

I think you are good to go. Apply EA to Fordham and ED to GW if it is your first choice. Also early as possible to Temple and UMD. Do they let you know early if you are accepted? That way you would have a good idea where you stand before the holidays. If you are in GW, your first choice, your process is ended right there. Otherwise you can add American and NE to your list for RD and supplement your GW app for RD unless you decide to go with Fordham, Temple or UMD, assuming you are accepted to them.

One thing, are you set in terms of paying for these schools? ED is binding, if you need financial aid, it may not be in your best interest if you need or want aid. None of the schools you list guarantee to meet full aid, and your stats are not way up there for merit awards. This is something you need to contemplate if you need aid.

thanks.....yea thats a good point...i thought alot aboout the whole financial situation. I understand my stats are no where close to getting a lot of money neither can i really afford any of these collleges...however i feel i will have a good opportunity to get a good job if i go to one of these colleges which i feel is a good investment to pay off these colleges later in the long run...i know it will be extreme;ly difficult and debt could be very extensive but i feel it might be worth it

Pat, you need to have a way to pay for the colleges now, not with your jobs later. Opportunities for students to take out loans without a co signer are very limited, to non existent. I don't think you can count on making the money to pay the type of loans that these schools would need.

I would start with a discussion with your parents as to what they think they can afford and for financial info to fill out FAFSA to find out if you are eligible for Pell money and subsidized loans, state money if there is any in your state. I would then, take a look at PROFILE to see how you fare in institutional methodology. The problem exists that none of these schools ensure 100% need met and even though there is merit money there, it doesn't look like you are up there to get much of it. You can only borrow about $5500 from the unsubsidized /stafford. Make sure you get some financial safeties on your list so that you have that option. The school should be one that is very likely to take you and that you can afford. What local schools are in your area?

If you can not pay I advise highly against GW. It's a beautiful, very cool school but not nearly worth the price (more than 50k). I'd also apply to Penn State and UPitt (pretty sure thing at both), but I get the feeling that you aren't interested in them.

you could always do a 2 year at a in state, less expensive school, and then transfer. you'll have a chance during the 2 years to really get up there (i know you can!), really work hard, and perhaps get close to the top of the class as possible. then you can transfer to the college of your dreams and perhaps get more merit aid that way.
just my idealistic 2c.

otherwise i agree with the post about FAFSA

you are like the king of 'chances' thread. i've never seen anyone post so many of these threads. you posted chances threads for all of these schools at least 5 times each. are you expecting different answers just because you make another thread?

it's clear. you need to raise your SAT scores to make yourself more competitive at your schools. everything else is great. so go visit, research these schools, and study for the SATs. that's your best bet right now not obsessively posting chances threads and getting the same responses every time.
