Did anyone else notice the change in the criteria for the Deans Honor Scholarship Project?

The old application states " To give further evidence of your depth of thought, imagination and expression of creativity, USE THE BOX on the next page in any way you feel appropriate and accompany this with a written commentary."

The New application sates :To give further evidence of your depth of thought, use the box on the next page to explore an issue, idea, academic area of interest or cause about which you feel strongly and accompany this with a 250-500 word written commentary."

My son is going to be really upset. He started working on his project in the Summer of 2012 and has it all completed and it is based on the criteria of the old application!

I would think “explore an idea” would be broad enough to encompass just about anything. I bet he can make it work, unless his essay is significant longer than 250 words.

I agree with Sticker, except it is 500 words, not 250. Other than the new limit, I don’t see a big difference in the criteria. But I also would advise that he put an additional note on his project that says he started working on the project significantly before the new wording came out. I am sure they will allow for leeway in this regard. They are there to try and get the best students, not to be uber sticklers about details such as this. A separate email to his admissions counselor wouldn’t hurt either, just for the additional support.
