Hmm, just wondering : if I want to change my conc. after I’ve been admitted, do I just send Admissions a mail about it asap? Or should I wait?

It has no affect on your admissions and no one cares what you declared for admissions either (unless it's a science which opens up more room for essays and recommendations). You don't declare a concentration until the end of sophomore year and even then changing your concentration is just a matter of filling out a one sided form.

But is it advisable to at least inform 'em? Will I risk missing out on some of the more popular courses if I don't indicate my interest early?

Nope, becuase no one is declared and even if you are declared you get no favor in registering for classes. As a chem major I can get into a poli sci class as easily as anyone else.

a lot of colleges actually have (undecided) as their mostly selected "interest/major" on apps.

If you think your ECs or grades or awards are closely related for one concentration, you might want to use that concentration for now, even if you do change it later on. For example, let's say you said you wanted to concentrate in English but you're also very interested in science and you do research and you just win Intel - then it might be in your favor to change your concentration to say biology or something science related. If you're just changing between closely related concentrations, say from Cog Neuro to Psych, it prob. won't make a difference.

I'm actually thinking of switching from Econs to COE + IR.
