I was accepted into the College of Arts and Sciences with Psychology major and while I was pleasantly surprised (was expecting a rejection the entire way so I just picked a random major -.-)…can I change my major now??

sure, you only have to declare your major after sophomore year, so you can easily change it. you can do so by calling students services to change it now, wait it out until sophomore year, or anytime in between. ;)

thank you ! btw what are the most famous majors at BC?

I’m currently a student in CSOM. The most popular majors in CSOM are finance, accounting, and marketing. I’m not sure about A&S, but I’ll have to assume economics, philosophy, and psychology as the top 3.

Does Boston College has any pharmacy program? Is it easy to transfer my credit from BC to a pharamcy collegeie MA college of pharmacy?

How easy is it to do internal transfers INTO A&S?

^^^^^^

So easy, you’ll get paid for doing so.

Not really, but I would guess it’s much more easy than transfering INTO csom.

Dear wchen0311 : Changing a declared major inside the same school is a no-brainer as a freshman.

Transferring schools (A&S, CSOM, Nursing, Education) is not as simple as you would think - particularly as a just accepted entering freshman. If you believe that you need to change schools, you had better raise that flag now with admissions - because you might find yourself at the wrong college if you cannot change. At this point, you might be on the waitlist for a transfer.

Dear wchen0311 : In response to your question - Does Boston College has any pharmacy program? Is it easy to transfer my credit from BC to a pharamcy collegeie MA college of pharmacy?

If you are interested in pharmacy, wouldn’t Northeastern have been a far better choice as they actually have the program?

In response to the question raised in Post #3, the most popular undergraduate majors (in terms of number of students) are:

Communications (843)
Finance (830)
Economics (776)
Political Science (672)
Biology (662)
English (652)
History (564)
Psychology (472)
Marketing (386)
Nursing (382)

These numbers are from BC’s 2008-09 Fact Book.

When i applied i marked my major as biology. I was waitlisted and was wondering if sending a letter to the admissions office about a change of my possible major is unnecessary?

I want to show that i am interested in attending if i get admitted but my 3rd term grades are pretty poor and not representative of my overall high school grades (damn senioritis) so i do not want to send them.

btw i would be changing it to psych.

scottj, I never thought about applying to Northeastern because almost all the people I had talked to suggested ACP or MCPHS. As matter of fact, I was accepted into ACP (havent heard anythin from MCPHS yet), but honesty Boston College sounds more attractive than ACP. Plus, I really dont know am I really interested in pharmacy.

(I’m totally lost right now…>.<

Dear wchen0311 : If you are truly lost and discussion with family/teachers/friends does not help expose a true passion, best advice would have you pursue a broad base liberal arts set of courses as a freshman and NOT engage in a specialization (like pharmacy) early in your college career. This would be your risk-free strategy in the early days of college and avoid your entering a course of study where the credits might not be applicable to another major.
