I was accepted as a freshman for Fall 2016 as an Engineering Science-Engineering Management major. But I only selected this major because of the Change of Major Opportunity email they sent out before Regular Decisions came out. But I was wondering if it would be possible to change my major to something that is still within the School of Engineering. I want to switch to Biomedical Engineering. Would I be able to switch before I even start in the fall or would I have to apply after my first year? And will it be easy to switch majors or will they have to review my files again and possibly reject my request for a change in major? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!
TCNJ reserves a particular number of seats within a major, and then fills those seats. The whole point of that email they sent on the Change of Major Opportunity was to give you a better chance of getting accepted to TCNJ; that it was not likely you would be admitted to the original major you applied. It explicitly states that you should not plan on changing majors. You can call and ask about changing your major and hope that a number of students that applied for Biomedical Engineering have declined their offers and there is now a seat open, but I wouldn’t count on it. And they will definitely need to review your file. Good luck!
As a general thought what I would try to do is take the same classes that a BME would take freshman year, so if the opportunity arises then you will be prepared.
