Changes for Possible Columbia (Fu),MIT, Caltech For a Junior

Hello all, I'm currently a junior and wondering about if I am on track for being a plausible applicant to the following schools:

Columbia (Fu)
MIT
Caltech
U of Chicago

My stats:
SAT: 2320 (M 800/ CR 740/W 740)
SAT ii: Math II 800/Physics 800/ Bio(M) 800
possibly taking a history one

Class rank (top 5%)
GPA: not to hot did bad sophomore year for no reason but will have 3.75 by time i apply

AP's taking this year
AP stats(slight self study , in honors course at school)
AP Lit
AP Physics B & C
AP Biology
*AP Macro/micro
*self study

I took calc 1 and calc 2 at a local university (both A's) during my sophomore year and this year I am taking Number theory at the same establishment (grad level course)

Possibly taking Linear algebra and a Quantum mechanics course during summer

EC's:
Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra, Community Orchestra, Science Olympiad (junior year co-captain, medalist at regionals & states), FBLA (state award), Key Club, Chess team (Varsity Co-Captain), Scholastic Scrimmage (Varsity co-captain junior year, captain senior year),Mock Trial, Model Congress, club for fundraising for children in africa, Community jazz band that performs at a renowned Jazz Festival, National Honor Society, Soccer (4 years), Tennis (4 years), Environmental club
**Possibly attempt to form a Mu Theta Alpha chapter

Special thing : I don't know but I play the ukulele a lot i might try to do something with it. For summer applying for internship with physics professor or doing own research. Doing ASABO, USAPHO, AMC

I have a passion for physics and maybe an A in quantum mechanics will highlight this
I expect to get a few awards this year for math and science.

Can you please chance me???? I'm nervous because I'm caucasian and lower middle class. When applying will have one sister still attending college (Barnard) any thoughts as well would be appreciated!

bump…

Good chances at Caltech (#1 college for physics). If you can get a medal of any colour in USABO or USAPHO, I dare say you are IN for sure. Perhaps you should also try ISEF, Intel or Siemens. It will greatly boost your chances. If you have a research paper, be sure to submit it when applying to Caltech. Keep up the good work :)

Thanks! thats uplifting as I am participating in Intel this year with a project dealing with quantum entanglement so maybe I could do well with that

Great to hear that and all the best for intel! Caltech loves olympiad/research people. Just fyi, this year’s intel sts grand-prize winner went to Caltech  By the way, for your special thing, I would suggest you apply for an internship with a physics professor instead of doing your own research since you can come up with a high-level research paper that you can submit to Caltech and other research competitions.

I’m applying to RSI, if I get in will it be too late for Caltech to see my project since it will be senior year?

Not at all, since RSI will be held during june-july, and you’re applying next year, so there’s definitely ample time for Caltech to see your project. :)
