Also, changes for UVA, Emory, and Vanderbilt? All out of state
UVa and UNC Chapel Hill have higher standards for OOS applicants. Match if in state, reach if OOS.
You have a really good shot at getting in, but UNC really likes uber-high SATs & ACTs for OOS. Are you retaking the ACT by any chance?
I took the act twice and was actually surprised I did as well as a 33; I really don’t see myself improving on that
Nonetheless, you have a very good chance at getting in. I assume you have some other, safer schools you’ll be applying to as well. What state are you from? UNC gets a lot of students from the northeast and mid-Atlantic, but like lot of national universities, they like applicants from from all over the US. They would never admit it, but I guarantee you that if you were from Idaho instead of New Jersey, admission would probably be almost guaranteed.
@ematzrn I am from Florida! And yes I’m applying to my in state state school (UF and FSU) which are much safer and more affordable options for me, but I really love UNC and UVA
Apparently there is a UNC admissions counselor that is from Tampa? Or there used to be? That’s my city and apparently they like students from here
I’d be brazen to say you have great shots at UVA & UNC if you can pay OOS tuition. Merit aid is a different ball of wax though. Good luck!
