changing a major... or double majoring

i got into CIT and MSC.
I was wondering if it is easy/hard to major in other college
like im thinking majoring mechanical engineering and psychology..

would this be impossible??

If you can fit in the classes for the major, in general you can do it - a few majors you do have to do a formal application for and people are actually rejected (HCI is the only one that comes to mind). For psychology, you just have to talk to someone and do the prerequisites in order to declare it as a second major.

Yeah, one of my friends in Materials Science & Engineering had originally just planned on doing his MSE degree with ROTC, but then realized at the middle of his junior year he could get a double major in psych by just taking a few extra classes. He got the double with no problems and graduated in four years (and he was a fairly mid-range student).

if i got into HSS, i can pick any major in the college, right?

just wondering because i put psychology as my major when i was applying, but i'm thinking of taking the cognitive science major.

I don't think H&SS accepts you based on a major, so I wouldn't worry about it. I think the percentage of people in H&SS that change majors is a bit higher than technical majors, so they probably expect it a little bit.

I don't think H&SS lets you declare your major until second semester, so it wouldn't be a problem at all. Psychology and Cognitive Science are in the same department, anyways - no worries about that at all. :)
