How difficult would it be to change your major to Kinesiology from Ag.Business ? Has anyone been successful transferring to this major? How long and/or difficult is the process?

I can’t speak with authority, but based on admit difficulty, I’d guess that switch would be VERY hard. Kinesiology is one of Poly’s most difficult admits where as Ag Business is one of the easiest. From what I understand, you will be assessed against the cohort of Kinesiology admits you’ll be trying to move to, just as though you were trying for that major from the beginning. You’ll have to have a stellar record, likely greater than 4.0 and SATs well over 2000, to have a chance. The best resource though would be the department. Good luck.

Here’s the guidelines about Change of Major into Kinesiology from the department website:

This is an important link too:

From the above:

All academic departments should give careful consideration when determining target major options. The following criteria may be considered:

The majors for which the student was eligible at time of admission,

College academic record (e.g., GPA, coursework, etc.), and

Remaining coursework and the student’s ability to complete degree requirements in the new major within the published unit maximums for that major.

The first bullet is the means they use to keep students from “backdooring” into very difficult admits.

I think the word “eligible” in the first bullet needs further clarification. Does it mean “would have been selected”, or “eligible to be selected”? I think many applicants were eligible to be selected, but only a few were selected. Many “eligible” applicants for kinesiology were not selected simply because there were too many eligible applicants. Change of major at CP is never guaranteed, but I think the target of 15 ICMAs into kinesiology per quarter (45 per year) sounds somewhat promising for you if you keep your grades up. Good luck.
