Changing major

Can i change my major during the first quarter at CPP?

Depends on what major you want to switch to… if it’s impacted it’s actually very hard, almost like re-applying to the university. This is to keep people from applying to easy-to-get-into majors and switching to impacted ones.

what about Architecture to Accounting? how long do it take to change? or i can wait until the next quarter?

andi know Architecture is impacted major …

what do i need to do? so i need to sign the petition to change major curriculum sheet and turn it in to admission right?

yea thats correct

but is it possible for me to change major even though i have take any lower division courses of accounting at College yet? and how long does it take for changing major?

even though i haven’t take any lower division course

yes, it will just take longer to graduate. its ok though, i spent 4 yrs at a CC before transferring here :)

do you live on campus btw?

Oh so i have to go back to COmmunity college to take my lower division and transfer later on? I can not just take those lower course at CPP? No i needa commute to the campus like 30 mins long

im almost certain you can take lower division at CPP. itd be easier to just talk to your advisor to get this all settled

Oh yea i will come and ask the admission office tomorrow. Thanks so much :)

Is cal poly pomona a good school for accounting major?

How come you’re switching out of architecture?

=)) for some reasons and inappropriate for me

Huh? Sorry, I didn’t understand that last sentence. In any case, I think it should be rather easy as you are not transferring to an impacted major.

If I was intending to switch into a Biotechnology major after the first quarter of my freshman year (I’m a senior in HS at the moment) would I need to declare as a science related major?

I ask because it seems like Pomona focuses on grades and I looked at the statistics and it seems like if you declare a less populated major you have a better chance to get in.

I just don’t want to declare a dumb major and not be able to do biotechnology (which I heard Cal Poly Pomona is really good for? Is that right?).

I 100% expect to get accepted anyway, but I want to make sure, plus aide might increase.

You should just apply for the major that you really intend to study rather than scheming some back door way to get in. Getting in for an easy major is not a proven way to get into a tougher impacted major. In fact, this strategy is most likely to work against you as it is looked down upon by the impacted departments. If you can’t get in, you’re better off transferring in from a CC a few years later.
