Changing Major

How easy is it to change majors in college? I'm not exactly sure what I want to major in and I would like to take some classes and see what really interests me? Should this work out?

Most schools don't make you declare a major until, like, sophomore year, and you'll have plenty of time to try out anything you're interested in and switch over. The only problem might be switching to a special program if admittance is extra-selective.

It depends - at some schools, you have to apply to be admitted into a certain major, but at many others, you don't declare until after at least a year (sometimes two). In those cases, you can take classes in whatever you want, and choose your major once you know what you like. If you aren't sure, I would recommend applying to this type of school.

To major in engineering, specifically environmental eng., will I have to declare that when I apply for the school during senior year of hs?

depends on the school, again, but most colleges would probably have you apply to the engineering program and you can declare that you want to do environmental specifically later.

If you are in a non-engineering program at a school and want to start engineering instead once you get there, it usually wouldn't be too hard to get in.

Most of the apps for schools I've looked at ask for intended major. Would it be best to put undecided, or put what I'm leaning towards? I would really like some freedom to take classes to see what really interests me.
