changing majors at Cornell

I recently received my college acceptance letters and now I'm trying to decided between a major in architecture at Carnegie Mellon or a major in urban planning at Cornell.

My question is, how easy is it to switch majors at Cornell? I had intended a future career in architecture, and although I really like Cornell, the major doesn't exactly fit. Is there any method for transfer or changing majors? Urban planning and architecture are both under the same college at Cornell, but I don't think that's exactly helpful, since Cornell architecture is so selective.

Is it worth a shot at Cornell, or should I just go for architecture at Carnegie Mellon?

i think i remember the process of changing majors at Cornell is a little harder than most colleges. Also, transferring into architecture programs can be difficult or not allowed at a number of colleges.

that being said, cornell is NAAB certified i believe with a barch program and i would definitely take the opportunity at cornell over c. mellon. I don’t think you can compare the reputation of the schools, nor the academic quality

Hello. I have seen someone who changed her major at Cornell. I think she was in second/third year of hotel management program. I don’t know the details, but she had to spend a semester in architecture program and had to get good grades to transfer. If she didn’t get good grades, I think she had to go back to her original program. She also had to submit a portfolio at the end of the semester.

Although the transfer between majors is possible, but transferring into architecture school is quite difficult (well, according to a lady who works at Cornell architecture admissions office). However, if you are ready for it, go for it! Cornell architecture program is wonderful! :)

CMU also offers a 5-year BArch and is NAAB accredited.

I am a little confused by the second statement, though, since I consider CMU to be amazing in terms of academics.
