Changing majors

So I recently got accepted to my first-choice major in the College of Natural Sciences. But I heard that Deans Scholars kind of sucks (plus it's really hard to get into), and that the sciences aren't that great at UT. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Otherwise I'm pretty sure that I want to switch my first-choice major to my original second-choice major in the College of Liberal Arts (undecided), do Plan II, and possibly apply for McCombs and BHP. Any advice? Is it even possible to switch majors easily now?

I'd also like hear what people have to say, seeing as I am also applying to the natural sciences (physics) and most likely Dean's Scholars.

i was in a similar position last year. i had applied to the college of natural sciences, but decided to change my major to engineering. i called the university about my change in heart and they told me all i had to do was send them a letter stating what major i wanted to transfer into and i would be reconsidered. it really wasn't that big of a deal, but don't expect a reply until about may.

What prompted you to choose engineering? I'm really debating whether to do several things, including physics and engineering.

I was originally going to be a bio/pre-pharm major, but changed my mind VERY late during senior year. Actually, to tell you the truth, I really had no idea what I wanted to major in when I was sending in applications. I had an interest in biology, but wasn't sure if it would be a sound career path; and I wasn't about to bank my entire future on whether or not I got into pharmacy school. So after some thought, and a lot of teenage angst, I decided to major in engineering. Looking back at it the main reason why I chose engineering as my major would have to be the fact that it was challenging while still providing a relatively straight forward career path. Becoming a Bio major just presented too many "what ifs" for my liking.
