Hi, I’m new to this site so I hope I’m posting this in the right place.
I was recently accepted to UCLA (Biz Econ) and UC Berkeley (Haas, Bus Admin) as a transfer from a California CC, which is very exciting!
I just have one concern, especially concerning UCB–I listed 3 courses on my Transfer Academic Update and Haas Supplemental Form as planned for the summer, but I was basically just guessing what would be available based on my CC’s course offerings from the past few summers . Now I see that they are available but there is a time conflict with 2 of the courses. Will informing UCB that I will be taking 1 different summer course affect my admission? All the courses are unrelated to my major or IGETC. They only have to do with UCB’s 7-course breadth requirement, which is a graduation, not admission, requirement.
Would it even be okay if I change 2 of the courses? That way, I could take all 3 online, which would help out significantly with my family’s summer planning and I would still meet the same breadth requirements, just with different courses. But, is changing 2 out of the 3 too risky? I’m terrified of my UCB offer being rescinded.
As for UCLA, I guess I will be informing them I will not be taking any summer courses if I go there, since those courses only pertained to UCB. I hope this will also not be a problem.
The fact that these classes aren’t admission requirements should count in your favor. You should send them an email, and explain that you didn’t know when the courses would be offered when you put them on your TAU, but made an educated guess. I don’t think Berkeley can penalize you for that. Assuming you meet the 60 unit minimum, UCLA should be okay with that as well.
I believe that if they wanted you to finish the classes that you wrote as PL in your UC app, it would’ve said so in your conditions of acceptance. For me, I wrote a lot of PL summer classes for UCSB, since I was missing prereqs for the major. On my acceptance to SB, it tells me to take all the classes that I wrote as PL for summer. But in my letter from UCLA, it doesn’t mention anything about summer classes in the provisions. You should be good but just report it to be 100%

Thanks all for the help. I called, and the Berkeley Haas admissions counselor I talked to said it would be fine whatever I decided to take over the summer, whether that be 3 different classes than one I listed or none at all, since they are not admissions requirements, and that I should just be sure to notify them of my plans. Phew!
