Course Schedule Change (couldn't add class) Affect Chances? UCB/UCLA

Hi I posted this before, but didn't get much answers...

Anyway,

For my Spring quarter classes, I wrote on WIP form that I was gonna enroll in 16 units, however I wasn't able to add the last course which has nothing to do with my major/prereq (so now I have 12 units) and I will still have over 90 quarter units without it. However, now I believe I have to go through the trouble of notifying each UC I applied to of the change.
Would it especially hurt my chances for Cal? (the course is just a random elective course) Does 12 quarter units look too little? (Should I enroll in another random course, or would 12 units be fine?) :/
I'm kinda worried now....

Help would be much appreciated...thanks...

You will have to report the change, but only once you get accepted. I recommend that you notify your main picks and the backup just in case it affects your admission. Good luck. Im kinda in the same situation, except it is one unit of physical education. I wouldn’t think that is really a big deal, and I had a really good reason why I couldn’t take it.

yeah I simply couldn’t add the class…I already jsut notified davis, ucsd, and ucla…but I’m thinking of waiting until I get accepted to ucb before notifying them

Despite of what you said about me earlier… I actually was in the same situation. I signed up for four classes and showed it on my WIP forms. However, by the second week of spring semester… I dropped out of two courses. Scared of getting rescinded by the UCs, I called Berkeley and the lady told me to change the courses quickly on Pathway because Berkeley evaluators did not start to review transfer applications until mid-March. My latest changes were made in February, after the deadline. I hope this helps.

thanks Jennn  (sorry about earlier…I just thought you’d see it as a joke and not get so offended) :P

I’m just worried because pathways is now CLOSED…and I’m not sure if I should go to Berkeley admissions and let them know NOW, or do it after and IF I get accepted…what do you think?

I forgot to tell the UCs about my ROP classes [high school classes with college credit] so I typed a letter to each of the individual colleges detailing the information. Since it wasn’t UC transferrable, they could care less. So in your situation where the courses were not relevant to your major or the IGETC completion, I’m sure you’re good. I’d call them, but wait until I’m accepted first.

You seem pretty worried about this since you posted it twice, but from my own personal experience, I don’t think it will affect your chances at all. I dropped out of a course that wasn’t part of my prereq/igetc and sent a message to all the schools I applied to and I still got accepted to UCI, UCSD, and UCLA (assuming the URSA thingy is correct). As long as Berkeley is the same and not too anal about something so trivial, I’m sure you have nothing to worry about (I assume Berkeley was your top school because of your name ^_^). Anyways, I believe the other post you had said you went to Foothill. If that’s the case, hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii from your sister college or whatever it’s called. Yarr I’m currently going to De Anza and kinda waiting on Berkeley, too except I doubt I’ll go there for personal reasons. But anyways, I hope I helped a little bit.

Thanks Robbay!

I took some classes at De Anza too :stuck_out_tongue:

Do you think I should wait till Berkeley decisions come out before notifying? I don’t want to make things more complicated for them before they release decisions…but I’m afraid if I tell them AFTER and IF I get accepted, I might have a chance to be rescinded? :x

Honestly, I don’t think waiting another 12 days would hurt that much, but that’s just pure speculation on my part. I sent my changes right away because I felt comfortable with my college resume, but I would’ve held out until after getting accepted if I was worried about my grades and confusing/worrying them even further while trying to decide to choose me or not. My friend notified changes to UCLA and Cal last year after being accepted (went to Foothill) and he didn’t get affected so that should say something. Thinking logically, because we go to a quarter system cc (pretty rare), I think they’ll take into consideration the later feedback on schedule changes since our spring quarter just started. So basically, I THINK you’re okay if you wait until after getting your decision.

thanks so much robbay…it makes me feel a lot better knowing that your friend did the same and it didn’t affect him
I just really really hope I’ll get in ><

hey, i also wasnt able to add a class that i put on my application update. but the class i wasn’t able to add is actually a major prereq for UCSD. can anyone give me any input? thanksss

^
It’s pretty much too late for UCSD, I’m sure those decisions are already made. I got in with 2 Pre-Reqs missing, no worries. [:
