Hello, I'm applying for UCSB TAG in the fall. I would like to apply as an Econ major but I will not have 1 prerequisite done (2nd calc class) which, according to UCSB's TAG agreement, is a rejection. Would it be possible to TAG as a philosophy major, take the calc class in the spring/summer, then switch into econ when I get to UCSB? I'm planning on double majoring in philosophy/econ. Is the situation any different at UCSC? Thanks.

u dont need your preqreqs done befoer your tag, u need it done by the spring of 2013. glglgl

ieatsharks is right. You can take the class in Spring, you don’t have to have them all done when you apply.

Thanks, but what if I can’t finish it by spring? There is only 1 class offered each semester for this course (calc 2 for social sciences) and it fills up pretty quick which is why I have been unable to take it and according to UCSB’s TAG agreement

“majors in Biological Science and Economics, as well as Computer
Science, B.A. require completion of specific major preparatory course work. Students who do not complete all required preparation courses will not be admitted to the selected major and may not be considered for an alternate major”.

Well, you’d have to find a way to take it by the end of Spring. Enroll in some other CCs. Try to add the classes by going on the first day if it is allowed. But don’t wait until Spring to try this. Do it for this Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. Hopefully you’ll get the class in.
