Changing your major

Anyone change their major before?

How did that go?

I’m thinking about adding another concentration to my plate.

Depending on your school, changing a major shouldn’t be a big deal - go to the office of student services, fill out a form, and they’ll change it automatically.

However, if you are already a junior, then filling out the requirements for a new major will require a summer term or two… Or perhaps even delaying graduation by a year.

it’s usually pretty simple. If the program your switching into dosen;t have an application/review you can just fill out the paperwork with the department registrars office.

at some schools you just fill out a form and ta-da!

at other schools you have to actually apply to get in to the major, need a certain GPA and such.

Yeah…it’s not that hard. At my school in order to declare/change you have to fill out a form and get the department head to sign it. There are a couple of majors that you have to apply to get into so that process is a little longer/more complicated.

I had to change my major as soon as was I accepted because I was placed into the wrong program/major! I really don’t know what the cause was, but I had to print out and mail in a change of major form. Luckily my adviser was nice enough to get everything arranged and signed for me since I was living 10 hours away and couldn’t go to campus to do everything myself. But it really didn’t take much time at all, it was pretty easy.

I changed my major from Engineering to a double major in Econ and Finance.

Took a test from my advisor to make sure I wanted to change and then after the test I filled out the paperwork and it was approved days after.
