im a hs senior,i just got accepted by a college, and my major is asia studies.
but the problem is i dont like this major. my parents kinda force me to choose dis major. i know its really sucks.
i dont know what should i do.
can i just change my major when i arrive that school before takin any classes, i also heard that if you want to change your major, u have to take some classes form the major you are in right now, is it true? thanks!!

Generally, you can change your major once at school.

oh,thanks, that means once i arrive the school,i can change it right away?

have you asked the school yet....

no, i didnt ask the school yet

You should be able to, unless its in a different undegraduate college (e.g. business school, engineering, social work, education)...

ai... i think it is, because asia studies, and im change major to finance. its in a different undergtaduate college.....so is it possible change it once at school.

anybody else?

what is the school?

yeah, which schoold did you get into? naming it would help A LOT.

You have to look at what the school itself says. I'm sure this very issue is addressed somewhere on its web site.

Did you apply and get admitted to a particular college at the university or to the university itself? If the former, you would have to apply to transfer and it is much more difficult (particularly if it is more difficult to get into the second college than the first). So if you got into the arts and sciences college, but finance is in the business school (which is more competitive), it will hardly be automatic. Otherwise, kids would apply for the easy colleges, then transfer once they got admitted.

If you were admitted to the university generally, then you probably can take whatever you want, no matter what the college. But this would be spelled out by the university. You are better off seeing what they say than asking us.

Generally, one's designation of major doesn't mean much until later on. Indeed, the school may not even have you make one right away. What you put on your application isn't binding; it is just an expression of interest.
