Let’s hope we hear today!
My son actually applied for TV Writing and Production (not Film Production as I had originally thought). Which means we should know by the end of this month!
Good luck to everyone. My son is anxious to connect with other Class of 2023 students - so if anyone knows of groups for newly accepted students please post!
@lsoko - Congrats to your son! What are his stats?
Does anyone know when they’d send an email to check the portal or should I just check my portal around 8 EST? I’ve heard of schools sending out emails in waves but posting decisions at the same time across the board.
For people who got in can you please say your stats and what scholarship you got if you got one???
@soccer3737 I got accepted ED w/ a Provost scholarship as a Creative Writing major - 31 ACT and 4.06 Weighted GPA . . . However, Chapman reviews apps with a “holistic” approach, so stats shouldn’t make or break you. Good luck!
@isoko I am also anxious to connect w/ accepted students – if you hear of any groups let me know
I hope it comes out today. If it is they will announce in the afternoon on social media. You cannot control their decision, but wish me luck.
My Facebook memory for today had my oldest daughter’s post telling everyone that she had just received the EA acceptance notification from LMU.
It would be so cool if my youngest would get the same good news today!!!
Join the class of 2023 Facebook Group!
Chapman offers 4 levels of scholarship as I understand. The highest is Presidential just as the name imply. On top of that, they can offer Chapman grant after March 2 after they complied with your FAFSA’s EFC number. For merit scholarship, they said they only look at the weighted GPA and SAT and ACT test scores. No subject tests, no extra curricular activities, leadership, and volunteer works would be consider.
Presidential Scholarship: $32,000 per year for class of 2019 usually at SAT 1500, ACT 33, GPA 4.0 or better
Provost Scholarship and sometimes Chancellor Scholarship: $22,000, I don’t know why they have Provost and Chancellor at the same amount but maybe for different colleges
Dean Scholarship: $16,000
Hesperian Scholarship: $10,000 some as low as 3.5 weighed GPA and SAT 1250 can get this
Coming tonight!
They posted a notice on their Tumblr Social Media that “Today is the Day”! - Thanks @dh2001
They posted on their tumblr that EA is going to be released today @SoCalPops
8 pm est time, 5 pm pacific time!
Also on Twitter! “We hope to welcome a lot more of you soon. Early Action decisions for fall will be released tonight! (Expect your email notification sometime after 5 p.m. PST. Please note that Film Production decisions are not released until February.)”
They mention that Film Production will not be released today but, are they releasing other areas of Film school?
So excited. I may or may not get accepted. If it was between getting rejected or deferred I would rather be rejected because I have other schools that I applied to and I hate having to wait even more to find out. Are they holistic because my sat scores are not quite in the average range for admitted applicants but I do have a 4.25 gpa and A’s in numerous honors classes under my belt. I have hundreds of hours of service spread across a few years, and am taking classes at community college and have a 3.5 gpa in that realm which is a 90% and an A average. I have been awarded the bronze tier of the president’s volunteer service award, have won the school volunteer service award two years in a row, and even won the president’s award for educational excellence the only year that they actually awarded it at my school. I am the president of two clubs and an active participant in another club. I have volunteered at a food pantry for several weeks over two summers and assisted an occupational therapist in working with kids who have issues with fine motor skills throughout the course of a few years and have excellent essays under my belt. I have an 1180 on the SAT which is a 650 in reading and writing and 530 in math, and that is what is mainly concerning me. I have a 4.25 gpa overall and that is with honors classes because my school does not offer AP. Please note they only awarded the community service award at my school when I was in the 11th grade. My school is small and doesn’t rank so I cannot have that as a benefit. So size me up. Do you think I have a chance? Chapman is holistic and looks at more than just scores so what do you think? Please keep this to the forum, and don’t go sharing it everywhere because I am getting an appraisal here but at the same time I don’t want everyone in the world to see the logistics.

My son got a 1270 SAT and 4.0 GPA - not sure if that is weighted but he goes to an honor’s high school. Didn’t see any mention of scholarship. Does that mean he didn’t get one? Good luck to all waiting to hear tonight! @Asmo7 There is a group on FB but so far not much action there. In the meantime, happy to hook you up to chat to each other.
Isoko,
I am happy for your son. Firm Production is the most competitive major in Chapman. The acceptance rate is 8% only. 1200 applied and for less than 100 spaces last year.
I am surprise that your son accepted into film production by ED with such a low SAT score of 1270. I think most people need to be at least 1400 or more plus above 4.3 GPA to get into film production. Is your son having some special film talents and film samples? Also, Chapman posted on Tumblr that the decisions for film production is mid-February but your son had already accepted at December 12. That is weir.
