New dorms across the street from Dodge: What’s the story? Took a Dodge College tour today and got several different answers. Will DC transfers be able to request that dorm?
@itcannotbetrue great job!! As far as igetc: it’s best if you have the certification! If you have it then all GE (including ones specific to Chapman) are waived. The only thing that is not waived is your foreign language. Your foreign language is not a requirement to get into Chapman but IS a requirement to graduate from Chapman. An AP or CC level course will not waive you from that as you do need to complete an upper division foreign language (which is not offered at a CC), however, taking one may shorten the number of classes you take at Chapman. If you speak another language besides English you can request to take an exam to prove fluency but you will have to pay for that exam yourself (I believe it’s $60-70).
As far as dorms, regardless of dorms or school within Chapman you cannot request anything. However, you can request for your individual room if you have a disability accommodation. Other than that, placement is completely random. They prioritize continuing students and disability students first before new transfers. Hopefully that helps!
thank you, @acceptmeplz376! Are there certain dorms designated for transfer students?
@itcannotbetrue yes there are! They’re more like apartment style but some are by Chapman and Dodge while panther village and the grand are further away (they have a shuttle). There are the Davis and Harris and K near Chapman, Panther Village and The Grand further! There might be one or two more but I have that info saved on my laptop not phone!
I received the Financial Aid letter today. I am wondering if I have to live on campus for the first year even I am a transfer student? Because I received the founder’s scholarship and it says that this award is also based on a housing status of on campus. Is there anyone know about this?
@starryap you don’t have to live on campus as a transfer, however if you indicated that you want to live on campus when submitting your original application then if you decide not to some of your aid may go down but that makes sense like if someone was living at home then they wouldn’t need help for living accommodations and what not, but talk to them because they may be able to work with you regardless of where you live!
@acceptmeplz376 Sounds good! Thank you very much!
@starryyap of course!! No matter what talk to them, they actually work a lot with students, you just have to ask
Just received my packet in the mail today and I was selected for a merit scholarship as well that’s really going to help out my family with tuition. I’m super excited!
Good luck to everyone! I was accepted to Dodge for Film Production BFA and I’m super excited
@acceptmeplz376 Is “The K” the new Dodge College dorm?
@itcannotbetrue I believe it is nearby but for continuing students and transfers housing does not depend on school or major so anyone can be placed there
Thank you, @acceptmeplz376 .
