Chapman University EA Applicants

I got my packet today!

@kllydntn Does it seem like it would be difficult for Dodge students to get to the main part of campus? Did it seem like an inconvenience to be kind of away from the main campus?

I’m glad you liked the campus, though. I’ve heard good things and I’m planning to visit in March (if I get in, of course).

Also, congrats Melanie15! That’s awesome!

congratz melanie15! what was your major you put down/gpa/test scores?

@JLR I have visited the main campus as well as Dodge many times, and it seems that a lot of students use bicycles to get from the dorms to campus/Dodge. There are bike racks outside of dodge as well as on campus.

The campus really is amazing. It’s beautiful.

to those of you who were accepted: what was your status on web advisor

@dsprunk: WebAdvisor statuses generally reflect the following decisions:

Admission Approved - Accepted
Decision Complete - Rejected
Roll to Regular Decision - Deferred
File Complete, Decision Pending - No decision yet, wait for status change
Decision Mailed - You should be receiving a letter or packet from Chapman soon

However, the WebAdvisor statuses do not ALWAYS reflect the true decision; you should wait for your letter to be certain of if you were accepted or rejected.

@JLR123- It would be inconvenient if Chapman was a larger school, but since its so small the extra 2 blocks isn’t that far compared to how far you’d walk at other schools. The only concern I guess would be walking home late at night, but you could always call the safety people and they will come and get you.

How do you know that “decision mailed” means acceptance? Mine changed to this today, but it never said, “decision approved.” How do I know that I wasn’t just rejected.

@usualgirl

you don’t know that. mine and some other peoples originally said “admissions approved” but was then changed to “decision mailed”. I think I read on the chappenings blog that they are only going to say decision mailed online

Still waiting for my (non-dodge) admissions decision. I called up Chapman and they said it could be another 2 weeks :/

If I can log onto current students and I have an email with a chapman.edu address, does that mean I got in?!

@usualgirl You get the email address when you apply, it doesn’t mean anything. If you think about it, even if you were accepted you aren’t a current student until you actually enroll. You’ll just have to wait by the mailbox to know anything for sure. :/

@usualgirl the temptation is killing me too… i hate that i got stuck with decision mailed! i wanna knoww!! and i live straight across the country

Would it kill them just to write, accepted, denied, deferred. I mean if they know, what’s the big deal letting us know…

It seems to me that the further away from Chapman you live the wonkier web advisor is. We live in Pa and our dd went from decision complete to decision sent. It said on webadvisor that it was sent on the 10th of Jan. That is some slow mail. I called the admission office and they said that “decision complete” does not mean that you did not get in. Now they could have been lying to me but you would have thought she would have said it different. You would have also thought that rejects would have gone out faster because its just one letter? Because they are a small university I think they are overwhelmed with the applications this year. Over 10,000!

I live 12 miles away from Chapman. My decision was ‘mailed’ on the 13th. It still hasn’t come and I am getting very fidgety…

Edit: I just called the admissions office and they said that the ‘mailed’ date on webadvisor is approximate and to give or take a few days before or after the date. ‘Mailed’ means decided; not processed, not packaged together or signed or put into an envelope, just decided. The guy I spoke with told me to call back if I have not received anything by the first week of February. That seems so far away…

Just thought this would save everyone else a phone call, at least for now.

Thanks Zanneth. I know the waiting is killing us. At this point we dont think she got in but we would like to know either way. She is going for Dance and it would put her mind in a right place for her other auditions. Anyway, Good Luck.

In the past “admission approved” meant accepted, but “decision complete” meant a variety of things; such as rolled to regular admission, asking for updated grades/test scores, denied etc. Because WebAdvisor does not allow us enough space to provide thorough information, the site will now read decision reached. This means in one to two weeks you should receive a letter in the mail. We understand how important receiving online notification is and we are currently looking for a method to doing so in addition to our mailed letters.

Yeah, mine said ‘Decision Mailed’ as of the 13th. I live in Illinois, though. I’m kind of expecting to have to wait a few days for my letter. I’m just nervous, like the rest of you.

I’m sure you’ll get them this week. Don’t forget, there wasn’t any mail on Monday because of the holiday.
Mine was mailed out the 10th and I got it on Friday even though I only live an hour away from Chapman. You should have it tomorrow or Friday.
