I heard that Admissions Counselors first call the student to confirm they are still interested, then follows it up with an email with the FA offer and then gives the student 48 to 72 hours to make a decision. A school’s yield is negatively impacted if a student says no after an offer is made. So they want to make sure that student is serious and still interested. Once all the slots are confirmed, they will send an email to the remainder that says thank you but the dream is over. This also might vary by school within Chapman. Of course, if a student that already committed to Chapman but gets a call from another waitlisted school they favor more (i.e. USC), an additional spot would open. Domino effect.
any word if anyone this year actually got a call?! Because no calls here…
Hi @westcoastdream I actually posted that question on the Chapman tumblr because someone in the Chapman class of 22 facebook page had posted that they just got off the waitlist. I’m not sure that they were lying so it could have been an exception. But it did worry me
The tumblr page didn’t answer really your question, they skirted the issue. curious which school this wl person says they got into…
so i just got a spring admissions offer from Chapman … they called me two days ago and asked if i would consider a spring admittance and i said sure. she also said it was looking like they weren’t going to open up the waitlist or if so not a lot…
rejected tonight at 8 p.m. eastern time. and that’s life…
health and happiness. fate will guide all of you. you are all amazing, incredible, special…
@westcoastdream im so sorry to hear that do you have a backup school? also would you mind sharing how you found out? personal email? phone call? i am having terrible anxiety right now
S found out via email. never a phone call. We’re from the east coast, so just a pure speculation on my part but if they were going to take any kids off a wl there it would be leaning for a california student, just a speculation here. no basis on fact. NYU waitlisted still but feeling negative on ‘the great nyu’ (sarcasm yes). They have thousands on their wl and stringing people through august. outrageous. and offers zero money mostly. He is committed to hofstra school of communications with a great scholarship (located 40 minutes from manhattan) and he will go. If he is completely miserable, he was given an opportunity to attend BU guaranteed admission as a transfer next year in communications too. So more possiblities ahead since he is feeling somewhat unahppy at the moment. Life’s twists and turns…
